Us boys be fools.

And we fear
one incorrect interaction,
one incorrect direction,
one incorrect action.

will destroy
everything worthwhile,
everything innocent,
everything good.

So, we stay away, out of
fear of our
own destructive might.

We stay away from rays
of light under the grace of
the moon. Because moonlight
is too good for us.

So, we say our piece
and we take our leave.
We take our trash
and we wander elsewhere.

As we wander,
we wonder, “How much
further?”

Till we can rest,
we are told.

How much further?

I’ll let you know
when my eyes close.
